After a rear end collision caused by traffic going down on a hill, I was issued a citation for careless driving. The sheriff spelled my last name incorrectly as in completely wrong when I pointed out to him he said to call and the county clerk would call him to verify and then it would be removed. This occurred in St Johns county Florida. What are my options?
The best thing to do is to hire an attorney. If it cannot be dismissed based on technical deficiencies, then it can frequently be dismissed based on going to trial and the other party not showing up. Otherwise, if you have a FL license, an attorney can also likely keep points off of your record. If you have a license from another state, it gets more tricky. Please feel free to contact me, and I’ll be happy to discuss it further with you.
