After a rear end collision caused by traffic going down on a hill, I was issued a citation for careless driving. The sheriff spelled my last name incorrectly as in completely wrong when I pointed out to him he said to call and the county clerk would call him to verify and then it would be removed. This occurred in St Johns county Florida. What are my options?
Not sure what your question is, but, if you rear ended another vehicle you will almost always get a careless driving citation. You can challenge it in court. Getting your name misspelled is not usually a definite winner for you if other identifying information is correct. You may, within 30 days, ask for a hearing in court, which I suggest you do. You can hire an attorney to appear for you. If the other person does not appear, or cannot identify you, then the charge should be dropped. If they can or could prove the charge, you can probably get a fine with no points. You should talk to a traffic ticket attorney in St. Johns county.
