What could I do if I missed my court date and there is a warrant for my arrest…its not more than 20 days from my missed court date
Hello,
You essentially have two options to avoid getting arrested on the warrant
- Turn yourself in. If you go this route, you may be able to bond out depending on the amount of bond attached to the warrant.
- Contact a criminal defense attorney who can get in touch with the State Attorney to attempt to get a stipulation to withdraw the warrant. If this proves unsuccessful, the attorney could then file a Motion to Withdraw the Warrant. You would appear in court and your attorney would tell the Judge why you couldn’t appear. If the judge is satisfied with your answers, he or she may withdraw the warrant and issue you a new court date, or you could be taken into custody, pending bond.
