Was clocked going 67 in a 45 in wake county. I was in an accident last year, my fault, and I got one speeding ticket in South Carolina a couple years ago. I work for Uber and can’t afford to have my license suspended. Any advice?
Not sure what Uber’s policies are but if you’re worried about license suspension, I’d try for a “PJC”.
That is like not even being convicted.
Just go to court on your court date and when you check in, ask the DA to reduce the speed (which he will do I am sure).
Then, when you get in front of the judge, plead responsible and ask the judge for a “PJC”.
NOTE: I have seen some judges balk at putting a PJC on a speed as high as yours. Likewise I have seen some DA’s be reluctant to give a big reduction in speed.
You were going 23 over the limit (allegedly).
Nevertheless, I think the PJC is your best option since you have had some activity on your driving record in the recent past.
There is a really good blog piece on the BernieSez site about the NCSDIP and how PJC’s and reductions work.
You can read it and get a better idea of the mechanics of this if you want.
If you post your case on the BernieSez site I am sure you can find a lawyer to deal with it for as little as $75 (plus fines and costs).
You’ll probably get about a million letters in the mail too from lawyers who are willing to help you.
Either way, getting a lawyer may be a good idea since your time is very valuable!
