I received a speeding ticket near Springfield, MA. I am a NYS resident and am not sure if it is worth fighting the ticket as NYS does not add points for out of state tickets. I was also wondering what the difference between a civil and criminal traffic violation is in the state of MA.

Even if NY does not add points for out of state tickets, both states are part of the Driver’s License Compact and have reciprocity by notifying either state when you’re found responsible or guilty of a motor vehicle infraction.
