Hi,
My husband just got the citation yesterday for driving 87mph in 60 mph zone. Officer told him to appear in the court mandatory as its over 80 mph. This is his second ticket in last 4 years. What are his options or what he can do to reduce the charges?
It matters when exactly he was convicted of his previous ticket. He should buy a copy of his full driving record from DMV. For insurance purposes if the previous ticket was over 3 years from the conviction date for the current ticket he will have more options. He can buy his driving record online. He should not plead guilty as charged. Not only would his license then be revoked for 30 days, he will have a criminal conviction on his record. How traffic tickets (and everything else in court) are handled varies from county to county, so to get a good answer you need to speak with a Guilford County lawyer. (I am not in Guilford). Usually to get a charge reduced you have to ask the ADA to reduce the charge. You wrote “charges.” What else is your husband charged with besides 87/60? The lawyer will need to know that.
