I got a ticket for driving at 51 in a 35 speed zone. the officer issued a ticket and asked me to take a defensive driving course program online so that the ticket fine and insurance hike will be waived off. to take the course, should i plead guilty or Not guilty and send back the ticket along with the Program application?
Do NOT plead guilty. You can take a defensive driving course (you should anyway to save on insurance), but that is irrespective of this ticket.
Rather, you should hire an attorney to handle the ticket for you, and negotiate to get either a 2-pt violation which won’t affect insurance, or a non-moving violation like a parking ticket

It is a four point speed. Assuming you are otherwise eligible to take the defensive driving course it will negate the four points. However taking the course will not waive the fine and surcharge which will be imposed by pleading guilty. I would not plead guilty. If your license is clean I would plead not guilty and try and get the ticket reduced.
