Hello,
I received a ticket in David City for going 20 over on a 60MPH highway. I am a Michigan licensed driver and here in Nebraska for work. The officer said to just pay the fine, but I was wondering if I am going to get points on my Michigan license. Michigan is not a compact state. Does Nebraska send this information over? I do not want my insurance to go up as well. What is the best way to resolve this?
This will show up on you Michigan LIEN and reported to your insurance company. 20 over is at least 3 points. You should get an attorney for a few hundred dollars to try to negotiate this down to a 5 over or some other civil infraction that has no point but fines and costs. You will save money in the long run this way. If you have a clean record, the attorney should be able to get a much better deal.
