My court date was yesterday I thought it was today I called and the Clark stated that I could come up there or I could get a lawyer to get it changed, will I have to go to jail?
Britt: A lot will depend on where you are and what sort of offense this was that you didn’t show for. I’m in Raleigh NC and here we have a big-ass basket of forms at the clerk’s office to fill out when you miss a date. It happens so often, it’s just not worth chasing people for. If it’s just a traffic case and you haven’t missed before, you are almost guaranteed a second shot. Of course if it’s a more serious case or you’ve missed a couple times it may be time to get a lawyer. Can you say any more about where it happened?
