State: Alabama County: Tuscaloosa
I got a ticket for going 60 mph in a 45 mph zone. The ticket fine is $182. This is my first speeding ticket, and I have a clean driving record. I’m wondering if it’s worth it to go to court or if I should just pay through the mail. Seeing as I have a clean record, will I end up paying more in insurance? I’d really like to avoid going to court if I don’t have to.

Attend court. With your clean record and your speed not being “excessive”, you should be a great candidate for driving school or completing 10hrs of community service work in exchange for a dismissal of the citation. Of course, the court will still desire the payment of court costs, but that is just the nature of the business these days with government funding.
