i live in an apartment complex at a busy intersection in Greensboro, and now and then I get in what COULD be accidents since people don’t use their turn signals – luckily I’m a defensive driver. Not that I’m gonna call the cops on someone, but sometimes I wonder if not signaling is against the law here. I’ve tried googling it but I can’t find a solid answer. I’m wondering specifically about when you’re stopped at an intersection.

A driver is required to signal any time his/her movement could affect another driver. Failing to give appropriate signal is an infraction and also can serve as basis for a civil negligence lawsuit. It is unusual for a driver to be cited for failure to give signal unless a collision occurs as a result.
