Hello! I recently received a ticket in MI for disobeying a traffic light. (Right turning on red when not allowed) The citing officer took my license, but then took the info of the car next to mine. So the ticket has the incorrect make, model, and VIN. Is this enough to contest the ticket in court? If not then how should I approach traffic court?
The cop writing the wrong car information is not fatal to the ticket, since he has your driver’s license information correct. But do yourself a favor and hire a lawyer to help you. Often times these tickets can be reduced to a lesser civil infraction with zero points and not placed on your driving record or dismissed. Don’t go alone as you will likely not get anywhere. Request a hearing and contact a traffic ticket lawyer.
