I have borrow someone money and I can’t pay her now and she’s mad and she’s file me to the court but I didn’t received the letter. 09/30/2016 she’s contact me and ask me “do u received any letter? ” I said no and she said ” Do u stay live in the same address?” I say yes. She’s said I have court order on 10/03/2016 @9 :30. It to urgent and I have three baby at home. No adult and no car. My car in the shop and I can’t drive due to my driver license suspended. What should I do??
Not sure where this is happening or what kind of case it is but this much is true everywhere: if you get sued, the case can’t go forward until you get “served” legally with the lawsuit papers. Usually that means the sheriff will bring them to you or deliver them to someone in your house OR you or someone in your house signs for a certified letter. If neither of these things has happened, I’d say the suit isn’t going to court until you get served. And that means you don’t have to go to court until you do.
