Just got issued my first speeding ticket which I’m pretty proud of, however I’d like to keep my driving record totally clean if I can. A friend of mine recommended I request adjudication from the court, which he explained could get me off free if the judge thinks I’m in the right before a date is even set. I’m afraid I don’t exactly understand that – is there a scenario in which this could actually work out in my favor? Looking for any and all additional details regarding this option as Google searches aren’t turning up much.

Sorry to hear about your citation. Unfortunately, I am not sure what you friend is referencing either. In Arizona, all traffic tickets go through an adjudication process. The outcome of the case, however, is what matters. If you wanted to file a motion to dismiss the case or something along those lines, that is a different matter. However, the Judge would not likely simply grant a motion without hearing from the officer or the prosecutor.
If you were cited with a civil offense and are eligible to take driving school, that will automatically dismiss the charge. You can find more information by visiting www.azdrive.com.
