I am a college student (senior this fall), and just got a DUI. Should I try to get it reduced to a reckless driving charge?

A reckless driving conviction is preferable to a DUI, in that it doesn’t trigger an automatic suspension of your privilege to drive (unless a point accumulation triggers suspension), nor does it require mandatory jail time. However, I would recommend hiring an attorney to negotiate for you, as they often have better information on legal defenses, criminal procedure, and prosecutor attitudes.
