speed 64mphs on 45mph, 19 miles over. city charlotte NC . county mecklenburg. on my way to work.only me in the car.court date June 9 2017. Can I keep this off my record? Will my insurance go up? Is there dangerous of loosing my lccsene?
Hey Anon! I practice here in Raleigh. Not sure what the policies are in that courthouse but down here, up to 20 over is not a really big deal (for some reason when you get up over 80, they don’t like it, but 64 in a 45 is not so bad). The best you can do is pleading to “Improper Equipment”. That’s not even a moving violation. Barring that, if you have a clean record for the past 3 years, try for a 9 over (54/45). That’ll keep it off your insurance. If neither you nor anyone in your household has used a PJC in the last three years you can ask the judge for that and it will wipe out insurance and license points for this offense. IMHO, better to save the PJC for later though (like if you run a red light etc). And no, I don’t see any risk of losing your license over this if you use any of these options and your record is clean the past 3 years. Try posting your case on the site (BernieSez.com).
