I was driving at 11:45AM in a 70MPH zone approaching a semi in the middle lane. Warnings were posted that the speed is reduced to a 55MPH zone. Then I go to pass the semi (the only other vehicle on the road) in the far left lane. I pass quickly to avoid his blind spot. When I pass him I immediately return to the middle lane and slow down to the speed limit. Shortly after I am pulled over. Is this a defsne because I really didn’t see the sign when I was lawfully passing the semi?
Unfortunately, it is unlikely you will be successful if you challenge the ticket. Even when passing you are required to abide by the posted speed limit and it appears there were warning of the speed drop. If you received the ticket in Milwaukee, many of the jurisdictions (including County and City of Milwaukee) will significantly reduce the offense and points if you attend your Court hearing (or hire an attorney to represent you) and have a good driving record.
