I was coming out of a faster speed zone during rush hour. I immediately pulled into a bank parking lot to allow safety for the officer. I fully cooperated with the officer who pulled me over. It was 59/45. What can I do to keep this off my record?
Anon: Not sure what you mean exactly by “keep it off your record”. If you mean minimizing the impact so you don’t see insurance escalation, that’s usually the best thing you can get (barring a very rare dismissal!). Like I always say, try for IE (improper equipment). Just ask the DA when you go to court. It’s not even a moving violation and carries no points at all. If he won’t do it, and if this is your only ticket for the past three years (no convictions going back three years), ask for a reduction to 9 over the limit. That will give you a couple DMV points but no insurance points. Last is the PJC, which you can ask the judge for if neither you nor anyone in your household has used one for the past 3 years. That’ll wipe out insurance AND DMV points for this ticket. NOTE: This is kind of a nuclear option. My advice is to NOT use it unless the other propsals don’t work for you, since you may need the PJC if you get anothjer ticket in the next 3 years. Hope tis helps!
